A quieter kitchen this week with no trouble!

It is good to note that the police have confidence in our ability to run this kitchen sensibly and without any problems as we did not even have a drive past after last weeks incidence.

Those attending were all on their best behaviour and none of those who had caused the problems last week were present.

Anthony and Mikey were new to the kitchen and are living on the streets. They have big problems with alcohol addiction. Mikey has three children, who he apparently looks after, but I don’t think he actual has contact with them.

Sarah and Dee were back at the kitchen this week. Dee is on bail and is dreading the prospect of going back to prison. He cannot cope in prison, even though he can be quite dangerous when out. They are living on the streets again.

Lenny has not been to the kitchen for the past 3 weeks. Jim saw him at the peoples kitchen last week but he said he was quite down. Lenny struggles with what he has done in the past and being a “missing person”. If it looks like people are getting close he disappears. We hope he will come back to a Sunday kitchen.

We have not seen Daniel for a few weeks either. We hope he has settled at Seaton Burn and  that is why he is not coming along. He is the one who said he would kill himself rather than be moved on again.

Doug continues to be a good help in setting the kitchen up and tidying up at the end. He is sorted in his new flat now and comes along for the social aspect as much as the food.

There was another Polish man at the kitchen. There are about 5 Polish/Check who come along regularly. They are picking up the English language quite well, pity the same cant be said for our Polish! Greg had cut his fingers badly during the week but has been getting the bandages changed at the walk in centre to prevent infection. He is always positive even though he has been on the streets now for a long time.

An older woman has been coming along the past few weeks and she was telling Carl that she was hoping to go and stay at friends in Alnwick to get off the streets.

As always your prayers for the work in general are greatly appreciated.
