This was a much quieter kitchen which was just as well as Philip, Norma and Rebecca were not available. Wendy helped with the drinks while I served the food and the men circulated.

Stephanie came to the kitchen this week. She was celebrating her 26th birthday. Stephanie is a very quiet girl who appears a little bit “slow”. She is living in Pitt Street but finding it very difficult. She was talking to Eric who is much older but looks like he is showing her the “ropes”.

Daniel (the young one) has managed to stay off the wine this week and said he felt much better for it. He still struggles with finding something to do during the week to pass the time away.

Michael (“Sickle”) was in a really bad way with alcohol. He had come along with Nigel and they both walked a young girl, celebrating her 19th birthday, into the centre of town at the end of the kitchen. This young girl has been to the kitchen before but was in a pretty bad way and had obviously been taking drugs as well as alcohol.

Sarah and Dee are hoping to get a place in Elliott House this week. Dee’s drug worker is working with them and is hopeful.

None of the Polish guys were there this week which is unusual and we hope that they are alright.

Mark & Brian arrived at the very end of the kitchen, having gone to Manors first, as they thought the kitchen was held there. We really need to ensure that our times and places are distributed in Newcastle. They are living on the streets sheltering behind Central Station. They were sharing a sleeping bag so we were able to give them another one, I also gave them one of the pies to take with them as they had absolutely nothing. Hopefully we find out more about their situation if they come back next week.

As always your prayers for the work in general are greatly appreciated.
