It was a very wet kitchen so we were surprised by the number who came along. Having said that at least 30% of them were actually living on the streets and many had been without food for a couple of days, so all of the food went quite quickly.

Brian and Mark who came last week for the first time arrived on time. Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to speak to them as we were short on helpers.

Darren, Tich and George are three young men from Edinburgh who have been in Newcastle since February. They came down last year for six months but went back at Christmas. They are all on the streets as they are not eligible for housing as they are not from the area. They are managing alright but the wet weather proves difficult.

Sarah and Dee did not get the hostel space they had hoped for so are still on the streets. They are talking about waiting a couple of months and if they still have no accommodation moving to another city. Sadly, they will find the same situation wherever they go as Dee does not have a good record and they have no income.

The two ex-soldiers who first came at Christmas time and have been missing for a few months came back last night. It was good to see that the plaster cast had been removed from the one who had the broken leg but he is still waiting for an operation on his shoulder. They are still on the streets and struggling.

Phillip will be on holiday for the next two weeks so we will miss his help in serving the tea and coffees.

As always your prayers for the work in general are greatly appreciated.
