Brian had kindly offered to do the food for the kitchen as Carl and I were at Annual Meeting. We had arranged with Diane Bickle to pick the boilers up on our way back so that hot water was available for drinks.

As no tables were available Brian served the food from the boot of his car and Phil used the car park wall to stand the boilers on.

It was good to see some of the regular faces back again. Lorraine came with her new boyfriend Bruce. She had a badly bruised and swollen face from falling over while drunk. She has changed a lot over the months and even when drunk is pleasant rather than abusive like she used to be. Her boyfriend though is noted for his use of violence.

Sean was in a poor way this week, and even though it was warm he was visibly seen to be cold. As we had come straight from Annual Meeting we had no clothing with us but Jim very kindly gave me his jumper to give him.

Errol (John), one of our elder gentlemen had been attacked a few weeks ago and had been seriously ill in hospital. He had to have a tracheotomy and still had his neck bandaged up. The result was though that he was found a place in Elliot House, rather than having to go back onto the streets. He is happy there and enjoying the baths!

Simon came to the kitchen for the first time. He was very depressed. He was in assisted accommodation but when he retaliated after someone stabbed him in the neck he was kicked out on Tuesday. He is on the streets and not coping at all. He said he was going to attempt to get arrested as he would rather be in prison that living rough. He is only in his mid 20’s.

Lisa was at the kitchen with the children and Nicky had drawn me a lovely picture. Brenda and Michelle from my office had bought some toys and clothes and they were pleased to receive these. There is still no word on the house front but Lisa remains positive in this difficult situation.

As always your prayers for the work in general are greatly appreciated.
