It was a very wet kitchen but this didn’t put many off from coming for food.

We had quite a few old faces back this week:-

  • Chris is still on the streets but is now a priority so is hoping to get a flat before the end of the month.

  • Lee, who had arranged to meet Carl on a Monday morning about a month ago to sort out some housing but hadn’t turned up, has been given a place by Nomad housing. He seems to be doing well.

  • Dee and Sarah have been given a flat and have acquired a dog. Sarah has been charged with assault so is waiting to appear in court. She thinks she will just be put on probation.

Keith arrived at the kitchen with a letter from his housing association. He couldn’t understand it and thought he might be in bother. I read it and explained it was actually good news. He was on a short term lease but they have changed it to a full lease and so he has more tenant rights. He is managing well, now that he gets his pension credits which I was able to help him apply for. He is going to Torquay, by bus for £2.50 today, for a couple of weeks.

Ali and Michael have a new flat in Felling and we were able to give them some bits and pieces we had been given.

Lisa and the children came and I was proudly presented with a bar of galaxy from the children for the toys and clothes we were able to give them last week. The children had been on play schemes during the week and Liam was playing football with some of the lads at the kitchen in the car park when we arrived.

Diane is a very troubled woman in her 40s. She loves to talk but is very confused. She thinks she is being harassed by the police.

Greg was at the kitchen and for the first time had a bottle of vodka with him. I asked him not to drink at the kitchen and he was very apologetic and obliging. He has been drinking for most of his adult life and living on the streets has escalated the problem. He has been advised by his doctors he must stop and he is trying to cut down.

As always your prayers for the work in general are greatly appreciated.
