This weeks kitchen was very lively. I think the drier, warmer weather brought more out for food. Many said they had stayed where they were last week as it was so wet.

There were a few new faces this week who are living on the streets. One guy Gary has only been on the streets for a week but has major problems with alcohol. We were able to give him some blankets, socks and gloves.

We are seeing a larger number of young girls who are only in their teens. They are generally with the lads but it is worrying that the number is increasing.

We had some old faces back, in Eric and Dawn. They seem to be doing ok.

We have had no recent updates about Joseph, who was in hospital. Greg hasn’t been to the kitchen for a while and he was keeping us in the picture.

During the week Carl met with the Emergency Housing department at Newcastle Council. They gave us leaflets of facilities that were open to the homeless that we can give out. Our kitchen was not on the list but they are going to include the details on the next run they do.

Carl and Wendy also had a busy time during the week fitting the van out with partitions and shelving to give a better storage area and a more suitable place to serve the hot drinks from. It also means the pans no longer move around when we are on route!

As always your prayers are greatly appreciated.
