It was a very busy kitchen this week but thankfully the rain stayed off and it was quite warm.

We are seeing an ongoing number of new faces each week, especially in the younger age bracket. It is fortunate that everyone who comes to the kitchen doesn’t come every week or we would run out of food rapidly. The new people who are coming are very hungry and have difficulty in grasping that we have to feed everyone so they cannot have seconds until everyone is served and we have put some meals up for any who come along late.

We are always appreciative when Ruth comes along as she brings bags of food for them to take away from her church. Ruth manages to come every other week but they have also noticed the need to increase the number of bags they put up (64) and the increased cost implication. It is good to have such generous supporters.

David is not happy in the Salvation army, as he wants to reduce his alcohol intake but is surrounded by alcoholics in the hostel.

Errol was at the kitchen, looking quite well, amazing really considering his health a few weeks ago. He is still on the streets and is fed up. He has been offered a place at Betel but says at his age he doesn’t think he can give up the cigarettes.

It was good to see Lorraine at the kitchen. She hasn’t been for many months but was looking well, even though she is still drinking and living in a hostel.

While taking Michael to work last week at 7 in the morning I spotted Nigel one of our regulars carrying his cardboard boxes. I stopped and got him a coffee and Carl took him a change of clothing and sleeping bag up. He suffers from IBS so isn’t eating and was in a bad way. He wasn’t at the kitchen this week so we hope he is alright.

We were given some clothing this week and this was gratefully received. We need some jeans, tracksuit bottoms in smaller waist sizes 30, 32 as many of our guys are undernourished.

As always your prayers are greatly appreciated.
